I use West River Road extensively to travel back and forth from the north of Brooklyn Park to the South. I travel it pretty much every day through out the year. In the winter months, things are usually pretty quiet along the road, not too much going on. There are a few deer once in while and sometimes even a hand full of wild turkeys. People take care of their yards, lots of full grown and mature trees plus a really NICE, wide, paved BIKING trail. Overall it's a pretty nice stretch of road along the eastern side of Brooklyn Park.
Several years ago the City of Brooklyn Park spent millions of dollars upgrading and repaving this Scenic National route to the delight of many who travel along its beauty every day whether for pleasure or purpose. Unfortunately year after year reports would circulate about the terrible misfortune that would befall the unsuspecting bipedal or eager teenager racing home to eat dinner when they were plastered by a motorist.
During the planning, there was much debate among and between the residents who own property along this stretch of road. One particular sticking point was whether or not a continuous bituminous BIKING/Walking trail should be included. While this seem like a no brainer for some people it remained as a gigantic hurdle for those it would ultimately affect. Adding this trail, would require most of the home owners along this road to relinquish a portion of their beloved and long held property to the City in order to widen the road and accommodate a trail. Ultimately, a trail was added.
For many of you, this was bonus. WOW! Now we can use the river road in relative safety and comfort, free from the abuses and hazards that come with motor vehicle traffic.
Enter the narcissistic, self-centered, egotistical, single minded, environmentalist hybrids, barack obama voting socialists pigs wearing spandex shorts, and plastic helmets intended to protect the brain they think they have and riding on what they think is a FUCKING SHOULDER!! Have they spent too much time always following behind a car and breathing exhaust fumes that it's rotted what's left of their brain after listening to a barack obama speech? Who in the hell are these assholes who have complete an utter contempt for the working class motorized citizen attempting to traverse this already narrowed stretch of road trying to get home safely and without incident after a long day at work paying taxes? I am happy to see that you are taking care of your body and perhaps consciously doing your part to "Save the planet" by biking your sorry ass to and from where ever the fuck you are going. If you are one of these hybrid assholes in spandex shorts and ballet shoes with plastic clips for greater riding security, MOVE YOUR STUPID ASS ONTO THE TRAIL so that we taxpayers who spent money don't have to slow down to avoid your NARCISSISTIC, environmentally friendly bullshit exercise routine!!!!

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

This may be a little of the beaten path when it comes to issues affecting BP. Have you ever made a phone inquiry to some institution and been asked several questions by an automated receptionist? For almost all of us this is a common activity that we must endure from time to time in order to gather or distribute data about our lives. This is a phenomenon that we simply take for granted and almost always expect to happen. We receive phone calls from the library if we have an over due book or one becomes available, we have automated phone messages telling us the virtues of donating to a charitable organization. We all know what it's like. In many instances we are asked to press so many buttons on our phone we could record music. With this button pressing we sometimes get frustrated and begin pounding the "Pound" sign hoping to hear the beauty of a live voice. This is the Automated American Way. This is significant for what I'm leading up to. If you have small impressionable children in sight of this please don't be alarmed by what I'm about to say. Instead, encourage them to read this and let them know the insanity they are about to discover should not be considered normal. Our country has lost it's fucking mind!! We've gone into the deep end are drowning in our own politically correct, culturally sensitive stupidity!! This is not some third world country or some 15th century african tribal nation or the water logged laotian inland, We live in America for god sake. We speak English. Why in the fuck do I have to press 1 to hear a message in English from Jackson middle school? First, you called me. Don't fucking call me if I have to choose what language I'd prefer. Spit out the message and if the person on the other end doesn't understand they soon will when their kid comes home and bitches them out for not saying something. Second, the beginning part of the message was in English. If I was an immigrant and couldn't speak English I wouldn't know what the hell they were saying to begin with. How many more buttons would I have to press if I only spoke Gaelic? This is ludicrous. When I go to get money from the cash machine it of course asks me what fucking language I want to proceed with to get American Dollars. Next thing you know they'll start asking what type of currency we want. It was ok when they put Braille on the buttons but this language shit is going to far. I go to the gas station and in the middle of the coldest months of the year the damm gas pump begins to ask me questions. If I wanted to buy more shit when I was there, why in gods name would I use a credit card at the pump to pay for gas?? Are these people just stupid? Stop asking me if I want a car wash or if I want to buy a 24 pack of toilet paper that's on sale inside the store. I'm in a hurry dammit otherwise I wouldn't be using my credit card at the pump. Again, the next thing you know you'll have to choose what language you want Rusty Gatenbee from Channel 5 news to blabber at you in while your pumping gas. What happens to the blind people from laos and the goddamm elevator tells you what floor you are on in English? What next? Will they spill out the number in a shit ton of languages like you were riding a European subway? Some of the worst offenses are when you least expect it. When you call for technical support on a new wireless widget and the indian answering the phone from pakistan introduces himself as Mike. What am I, some kind of fool? What idiotic marketing team came up with that great plan? I know, we can fool them into thinking Rasheve Unupto is living in Alabama if they hear an Americanized name. Way to go Shelly. With that kind of thinking you get a raise!! Tell me something Shelly, that is your name right, why did you change your name from DukDuk Tinge?
I'm sure there are some of you who are thinking the same things as I am and there are many more of you who just think that I am an idiot. Nevertheless, next time you are prompted to enter numero uno to hear the REST of the message in English, think about what country you live in and what language the Constitution is written in.

There are many of us in this city and cities across the country that look into the face of financial destruction every day we wake up. We live paycheck to paycheck always looking over our shoulder and around every corner wondering if this is going to be the day. I still drive the same car I purchased 10 years ago. I'm not about to go out and spend money. I only have money I risk losing to pay higher taxes. It's a terrible day when you don't spend money because you fear that government will ask for more. I'm not living the American Dream anymore. I'm living the nightmare of falling into financial darkness. I know I'm not alone. I know there are many thousands of others out there that are living this nightmare with me. Pardon me but the worst part about this is, there isn't shit I can do about it!!
We look out across the landscape of this great country we live in and wonder, what changed? As any man would tell you, nothing in politics ever changes not even the faces! But every day we play the "Lets blame the politicians game!" Hear Hear! But the hard cold facts point to another reality. The politicians aren't to blame. "WE THE PEOPLE" are to blame. If you don't believe me pull out your civics 101 book and understand who Government really is. Ted kennedy hasn't been destroying our lives for well over 40 years because Oswald shot his brother. No, he's been there because election after election people like you and me vote for what little we know about the people who tell us everything we want to hear.
Will you be "that guy" that becomes the next victim of unemployment? Will you be the guy standing in line with the rest of the statistics? Maybe, maybe not. Sadly for others though, they will plod along with their head buried in the sand hoping it will all go away. Is this the way we want to live? I don't want to live this way nor do I want to always be looking over my shoulder. Will I look back on my life in 40 years and talk to my grandchildren about what happened in 09'
Our city leaders have a responsibility to do the right thing. As residents of this city and of this great nation it is our responsibility to also do the right thing. We must stop and ask ourselves..."what are we doing, what are we trying to achieve and for whom?" We ought to go to bed at night thanking Divine Providence for all the wonderful things that he has bestowed upon us.

We ought to start calling this website BPFD.com. This website seems like a waste to whoever is running it. All they talk about is the same stuff over and over. It seems like a bunch of firefighters with too much time on their hands. Maybe these are the same people sitting at the fire station waiting for a fire to happen and they are lucky enough to spend time and money surfing the web. Do any of these people know what is going on around them? Do they realize the government of our city and many others is in financial ruin and are about to dig more into the residents pockets. I don't blame these folks for being concerned about or having a passion for fighting fires but come on lets give it a rest for while. The city council doesn't look to be addressing this situation any time soon. For the rest of you out there, grow a set, get active, and contribute in a meaningful way instead of blabbering about the same stuff over and over.
